FPV Racing & Precision Flight
I fly manually at over 160 km/h on race tracks and in freestyle. Six years of continuous competition: 2× national champion, Belgian Navy vice champion, German national team pilot at the World Championships.
FPV training, counter-UAS instruction and drone penetration tests for the Bundeswehr, the defense industry, police and critical infrastructure — from a German national team pilot whose Master's thesis covers FPV drone defense.
I'm Nicholas Proulx, 25 — professional FPV pilot, defense instructor and Embedded Software Developer at Pfeiffer Vacuum. I hold a Bachelor's in Software Technology and a Master's in Future Skills & Innovation, completed in October 2025. My Master's thesis dealt with FPV drone defense in public and military environments, bridging academic rigour with real operational experience.
Through direct contacts within the Bundeswehr and the defense sector I have already delivered seven courses to Bundeswehr units — broad presentations on FPV technology and its operational potential, which have opened the door to deeper tactical programmes. I work worldwide and bring up to 5 fully equipped simulator rigs with radios with me.
From software engineering to the physical limits of flight — a rare combination.
I fly manually at over 160 km/h on race tracks and in freestyle. Six years of continuous competition: 2× national champion, Belgian Navy vice champion, German national team pilot at the World Championships.
I build, configure and tune across every platform size — from Whoop to 12–15 inch. Deep knowledge of flight controller firmware, ESC protocols and long-range control links.
I teach reconnaissance (ISR), low-signature flight, covert approach profiles, target marking and relay operation. We train under GPS denial and electronic interference — grounded in my Master's thesis on FPV drone defense.
Full time as an Embedded Software Developer at Pfeiffer Vacuum since 2024, a working student there from 2021. That feeds directly into flight controller firmware, drone system analysis and the assessment of UAS technology.
I build curricula that run from complete beginner to advanced operator, aligned with the operational doctrine of military and police units — from the first simulator session through to flying in the field.
Academically and practically grounded: drone threat profiling, the limits of detection, operating in contested RF environments and planning countermeasures — taken directly from my Master's thesis.
Engineering · Academic · Racing · Defense — all before age 26.
I deliver specialised FPV training programmes to military units, defense companies and authorities, focused on defense operations, counter-UAS and drone penetration testing of critical infrastructure. My courses rest on my Master's thesis and on experience at the top of competitive racing.
Firmware and low-level software for complex industrial systems at a leading German vacuum and precision-measurement company — the engineering base for drone system analysis and flight controller configuration.
From 2022 my racing career picked up sharply, with wins across European circuits. Known for holding pace consistently and flying hardware right at its physical limit.
My thesis, 'FPV Drone Defense in the Public and Military Sector', sets out an academic framework for assessing UAS threats, planning countermeasures and training operators tactically. It is the basis of every defense course I run.
Joined in August 2021 alongside my studies, with hands-on work on embedded systems and firmware. Moved into the full-time role in 2024.
Studied in parallel with racing — the engineering foundation that the Master's later brought together with FPV drone defense.
Got into FPV in early 2020 through aerial videography and moved to racing quickly. Along the way I built a deep technical understanding of FPV systems, which I share through tutorials and in the community.
